What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure. During microneedling, tiny and sterilized needles puncture the skin very minimally to stimulate collagen production. This treatment is performed because the skin will heal after microneedling and reduce the appearance of acne scars or dark spots. Microneedling can also help improve the skin’s elasticity and create a more youthful appearance.
What is Radio-frequency Microneedling?
RF-microneedling combines two techniques commonly used for skin rejuvenation: radiofrequency and skin needling. Unlike the traditional version of a hand-held microneedling pen, RF-microneedling uses thermal energy that stimulates collagen production in addition to skin microneedling. This combination gives faster results in fewer treatments.
Is adding Radiofrequency (RF) better than just Microneedling alone?
Traditional microneedling causes physical trauma to the skin’s surface, which stimulates the production of collagen over time. By adding the RF thermal energy to the treatment, the effectiveness increases tremendously due to how deeply the thermal energy reaches the sub-dermal layers of the skin. Safe and faster results, longer-lasting outcomes, and increased ability for your skincare to reach deeper into your skin’s layers all lead to the ideal end result.
What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
There is a long list of benefits for the skin that microneedling procedures can provide, including:
- Skin Tightening
- Wrinkle Reduction
- Acne Scar Improvement
- Skin Tone & Texture Improvement
- Pore Reduction
- Scar Reduction
- Stretch Mark Reduction
- Double Chin Reduction
- Jowl Lifting
- Eye Brow Lifting
- Neck Lifting
- Hand Rejuvenation
How many treatments do I need for the best results?
For maximum benefit, you will need three sessions, spaced one month apart. The improvements continue over the next six months as your body continuously produces new collagen.
Can RF microneedling be used on all skin types?
Yes, RF microneedling can be used on all skin types. The microneedles are designed to precisely deliver the energy pulse towards the dermis tissues. This removes the risks of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on darker skin types.
What can I expect during my RF microneedling treatment?
For your comfort, a topical anesthetic cream is placed over the area to be treated prior to the procedure being performed. During the procedure, the handpiece is passed over the skin. The fine needles penetrate the skin and the RF energy is delivered once the needles reach the desired depth.
How do I prepare for my RF Microneedling treatment?
- Discontinue retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, and AHA/BHA acids for one week prior to the procedure
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) three days prior to treatment
- Avoid sun exposure/tanning booth two weeks prior to the procedure
- No waxing, electrolysis, or depilatory creams in the area to be treated for one week prior to treatment
- No shaving the day of the procedure
- Avoid blood thinners (aspirin, Omega-3, vitamin E) one week prior to the procedure

What do I do post RF treatment?
- Use a gentle face wash the first day, then resume your normal skin care regimen after 24 hours

How long does the actual procedure take?
