What is radio-frequency microneedling?
RF-microneedling combines two techniques commonly used for skin rejuvenation: radiofrequency and skin needling. Unlike the traditional version of a hand-held microneedling pen, RF-microneedling uses thermal energy that stimulates collagen production in addition to skin microneedling. This combination gives faster results in fewer treatments.
Is adding radiofrequency (RF) better than just microneedling alone?
Traditional microneedling causes physical trauma to the skin’s surface, which stimulates the production of collagen over time. By adding the RF thermal energy to the treatment, the effectiveness increases tremendously due to how deeply the thermal energy reaches the sub-dermal layers of the skin. Safe and faster results, longer lasting outcomes, and increased ability for your skincare to reach deeper into your skin’s layers all lead to the ideal end result.
What can I expect during my RF microneedling treatment?
For your comfort, a topical anesthetic cream is placed over the area to be treated prior to the procedure being performed. During the procedure the handpiece is passed over the skin. The fine needles penetrate the skin and the RF energy is delivered once the needles reach the desired depth.
How do I prepare for my RF microneedling treatment?
- Discontinue retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, topical antibiotics, exfoliants and AHA/BHA acids for 1 week prior to procedure
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) 3 days prior to treatment
- Avoid sun exposure/tanning booth 2 weeks prior to procedure
- No waxing, electrolysis, depilatory creams in area to be treated for 1 week prior to treatment
- No shaving the day of the procedure
- Avoid blood thinners (aspirin, Omega-3, vitamin E) 1 week prior to procedure
- Discontinue Accutane for 6 months prior to procedure
What do I do post RF treatment?
- Use a gentle face wash the first day, then resume your normal skin care regimen after 24 hours
- Avoid vigorous activity right after the treatment
- Use SPF 30+ dail
How long does the actual procedure take?
Sessions generally take 20-30 minutes, based on the area being treated.
How many treatments do I need for best results?
For maximum benefit, you will need 3 sessions, spaced 1 month apart. The improvements continue over the next six months as your body continuously produces new collagen.
Can RF microneedling be used on all skin types?
Yes, RF microneedling can be used on all skin types. The microneedles are designed to precisely deliver the energy pulse towards the dermis tissues. This removes the risks of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on darker skin types.
How Exosomes Can Improve Your Microneedling Treatment
What are exosomes?
What do exosomes do?
Exosomes communicate and transmit signals to unhealthy cells triggering them to regenerate in other words, prompt the body’s natural healing process. Exosome therapy also triggers the new formation of collagen and elastin fibers for sustainable skin volumizing and elasticity.
How do these work on the skin?
Exosomes are applied topically on your skin during your microneedling treatment and help to rejuvenate and regenerate dull-looking skin in women and men while enhancing tissue repair.
